Conan Exiles is a survival game set in the harsh lands of Conan the Barbarian. One of the features of the game is fast travel, which allows players to move quickly between different locations on the map. Fast travel can be done by using map rooms, which are large structures that contain a map of the Exiled Lands and several obelisks that can be activated to teleport to. Map rooms can be crafted by players or found in some dungeons and ruins.
To use a map room, players must have attuned themselves to the obelisks they wish to travel to by visiting them and interacting with them. Fast traveling consumes corruption, which is a negative status effect that reduces the player's maximum health and stamina. Corruption can be cured by using certain items or by spending time near an entertainer thrall. Fast traveling is a convenient way to explore the world of Conan Exiles, but it comes with some risks and costs.
The Map Room
To reach the obelisks, you need the map room in your base of choice. This will show you the unlocked obelisks and allow you to select them as your destination. However, returning from the obelisk to the map room is not possible and you must walk. Below, we will show you two tricks on how you can still use fast travel.
The map room is not a talent that can be unlocked in the skill tree. Instead, you must visit the Archivist in the Nameless City. He will teach you the Cartographer feat, which allows you to build the map room.
It is important to note that your corruption status will increase steadily as you explore the Nameless City. There are also powerful enemies that you will need to be prepared for. Do not attempt to enter the city unprepared or at a low level.
The Archives are located in the northeast of the Nameless City. You will need to travel through the red sand dunes and defeat some enemies to reach them. Once you enter the Archives, the skeletons will not be able to follow you inside. Inside, you will find a sanctuary and a breathtaking view of the map room. The Archivist is located behind the replica of the map. Talk to him about his religion, the cartographer, and the lost artifacts and bracelet.
The Archivist will give you the Cartographer feat blueprint, which can be found in the Decorations section of your talent tree. You must reach level 62 before you can build the map room. The map room requires the following components: 200 corrupted stone, 25 iron reinforcement, 50 crystal, and 75 alchemical ground substance.
The Recipe for Corrupted Stone can also be unlocked by visiting the Archivist. This recipe can be crafted at a fire bowl using 2 stone, 1 wound secretion, and 1 demon blood.
Find and Activate Obelisks
There are currently ten obelisks that can be found in the various areas of Conan Exiles. The first obelisk can be found at the gates of the Archives in the Nameless City. The other obelisks are located as follows:
Just choose the obelisk you want to travel in your map room and save your footpath. If you reach the obelisks, you should get away from them as soon as possible, so you don’t get too much corruption.
The Map Room is a powerful tool for exploration and conquest in Conan Exiles, but it comes with a high cost and risk. You need to invest a lot of time and resources to craft it, and you need to protect it from enemies who may want to destroy it or use it for themselves. You also need to be careful when using it, as you may end up in dangerous or hostile areas. The Map Room is not for the faint of heart, but for those who seek adventure and glory in the savage lands of Conan.
Other Ways of Fast Travel
Other ways to get over the map quickly are limited. On the PC, you can at least make you the admin in the settings in your single player session:
- Go to the menu in game.
- Select the settings and click on the Server Options tab.
- At General you will find a box Make me Admin. Activate this.
Now you can go to the map by pressing Control and right mouse button to target at the place you want to travel to. Bear in mind that the choices are pretty crude and it can happen that you spawn on a mountain in the air and thus fall into your death.
After each restart you have to repeat the above steps, because the game does not remember your admin rights. Otherwise, but this is a solid way to travel at least in co-op or as a single player fix on the map.
The next trick goes beyond the specified spawn points. In Conan Exiles you can spawn in three places after your death: the starting point in the desert, a bedroll that you can place anywhere, and your bed. If you want to transport resources from one place to another and play easily, you can find the fixed death on a bedroll and have you spawn in your bed (where probably your boxes and supplies are). So, you can switch back and forth between two places and it costs you only death!
Note that this course only works if you play easy. Otherwise, your resources will be lost at your death, and you will not carry them with you.
